Siobhan Liddell
‘We come to an edge and turn away from it. A piece of something or a finite thing could hang, or balance, or even be screwed into the armature of the painting. The worlds of Siobhan Liddell morph into view, but eschew easy meaning. You might see mountain views, night-time swimming or the body, ghostly and vulnerable — it becomes one vast scenography of life. The work defies easy categorisation, and this is its strength, the sheer tensile quality of it.
We are delighted to bring Siobhan Liddell’s work to London, a city she left for New York several decades ago. A homecoming of sorts, and a welcome. Operating towards the poetic refrain, each viewer will accord their own feeling as the works invite a consideration of the sensations of life. We are so privileged to share this voice with our audience.’
